Videographer Kevin Williams
Videographer Kevin Williams, also known as PROLIFICKID, has a unique, time-traveling approach to videography. One glance at his cinematic style may make you feel as if you’ve stepped back into the 90s. Even a brief glimpse of his high top fade and stone-washed shorts, reinforces this nostalgic experience. His clips are incredibly vivid, offering a fresh yet nostalgic twist to modern motion pictures.
PROLIFICKID experienced his first professional camera in 2015, and it was at that moment he discovered the unmatched thrill of being behind the lens.
“This feeling was something I couldn’t shake. I realized that I couldn’t think about anything else without considering shooting.” he reflected. After mastering photography, he decided to elevate his skills by delving into filmmaking.
Opportunities began to arise rapidly as he showcased his talents with various artists, including Westside Gunn, The Lox, Statik Selektah, NAV, Rome Streets, Syracuse Football, and many others. However, the high demand for commercial projects made it challenging to find time for his true passion. “Having that creative freedom allows me to tell stories that are often overlooked or forgotten by the masses.”
Despite facing challenges, Prolifickid remains motivated by watching his idols and peers succeed. He continues to create without making excuses, determined to ensure his voice is heard. The videographer is passionate about not being silenced, especially after surviving a near-death experience from a stabbing in his early 20s. “Telling stories through film saved my life.”
Prolifickid has embraced his second chance at life with great seriousness. He has dedicated all his time to pursuing his dreams, leading to his greatest achievement: winning the Berlin Fashion Film Festival award for Best Collaboration. He received this award for directing ASAP Rocky’s partnership with Puma and Formula 1. Prolifickid has no intentions of slowing down until he challenges the Eurocentric standards that dominate this medium. “I’ve seen many artists who don’t share our identity try to depict our lifestyles. My cinematography aims to present Black lives as extraordinary and sacred.”
