PrettierR, a talented singer and songwriter from St. Louis, MO, brings a refreshing soft voice to the modern music industry, contrasting with the aggressive R&B tunes today. She started by recording demos for her cousin’s label, igniting her passion for music. Expanding her horizons, PrettierR collaborated with Wikid Films in artist management and film production. “We both share a talent and passion for music and film,” she says. “He had a successful film company, and I helped produce music videos for various artists.” Her creativity and collaboration set her apart in the industry. During the pandemic, Boxedln gained popularity with its Live Performance music videos, evolving into podcasts and a full show featuring names like Sexxy Red and Glorilla just to name a few.
“No matter how risky the trend or ‘wave’ you start, it will eventually become ‘watered down’ so you’ll have to implement other ideas in order to stay relevant.”
By the time the artist is ready to release a project, the music feels outdated. When she returns to the studio, her sound has changed. “I fall in love with a new sound, making it harder to release the old music I’ve been holding onto. PrettierR’s children keep her going despite her challenges. “I want to provide for my children whilst showing them that you can do whatever you put your mind to.”
Some of the biggest challenges the duo faces in the industry is staying relevant. They understand that you have to be willing to reinvent yourself and platform in order to keep up with the demands of the film and entertainment industry. “Even when we create unique content, you have to know that others are watching and will eventually duplicate.” The singer recently relocated to Atlanta Ga. to take things a step further in terms of her career. As a multipurpose artist PrettierR stays so busy with the film/content platform, that she feels she neglects her archived tracks.
The world will soon see an official project! The singer is prioritizing her passion for music, stating, “While I enjoy working in film, I need to make time for what I truly love.” She aims to produce and direct movies and TV shows, confident that she’ll turn the platform into a thriving network by next year. “I can achieve anything I put effort towards!”
